Nurse Practitioners
If you contact the surgery and request a same day appointment, your appointment needs will be assessed by the receptionist asking questions about your symptoms. You may be offered an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner.
The Nurse Practitioner has completed extensive specialist training in diagnosis, examination, disease management and prescribing to enableher to see and treat patients. If you require an appointment for any of the following; sore throats, ear infections, conjunctivitis, asthma, chest infection, urine infections, vaginal infections, rashes or other common ailments, you can be seen by one of our Nurse Practitioner.

Emergency Care Practitioners
Steve Parry, Phil Chasemore and Catherine Hayden are our emergency care practitioners. They are fully qualified specialist paramedics who we are able to use to assess patients both in the community and in surgery. The Emergency Care Practitioner’s prinicipal role is to assist GPs with home visit requests to housebound patients with acute conditions, while referring to the patient’s own GP or the duty doctor if necessary. They can also see patients who require a same day acute appointment and will refer to a GP if necessary.

Morning and afternoon surgeries are held by appointment. The nurses carry out a full range of treatments including wound care, immunisations, cervical cytology and health promotion advice.
In addition, they run special clinics for diabetes, asthma and travel advice.
General Practice Assistants (GPAs)
This is a supportive role fo the GP's, consisting of undertaking bblood samples and blood pressure checks as well as a variety of administerative tasks including phone calls to patients.

Community Teams
The community midwife team carries out consultations in the surgery three times a week, by appointment and is employed by Taunton and Somerset NHS Trust.

A dietician and a physiotherapy team are available at the surgery after referral from your doctor.

Community Nurses
A community nurse team, employed by Somerset Partnership NHS Trust , is based at Park Gate House. The team can be contacted by ringing their office (0300 3230026).
